Blog Post #1 – The First Breath
Welcome, beloved community. Today I invite you to take the very first step with me along the red-stone path that became TaKun Space—a place to raise your vibration and remember who you really are.
A Seed Planted in Kundalini
My yoga journey began in the late 1990s with the electrifying practice of Kundalini Yoga. Those classes lit a fire in my spine and in my heart, and their first two syllables—KUN—never left me. Years later I paired them with TA, a playful toast that means “to.” Together they formed Ta-Kun: “To Kundalini, to awakening!” The name itself became a mantra of intention: an offering to the divine energy coiled within every one of us.
Listening to the Whisper
The dream of a communal sanctuary surfaced in 2019 over endless cups of tea and soul-stirring conversations with my dear dear beloved buddy Ankit. I pictured a gathering place where laughter, plant-based nourishment, and conscious dialogue flowed as freely as prana. Colorado? Montana? Flagstaff? Nowhere felt quite right—until a 2023 retreat in Mexico cracked me open. In deep meditation I heard a crystalline voice:
Do it. You are supported.
That single sentence thundered louder than any obstacle ever could.
Leaping into the Unknown
A few weeks later, on Mother’s Day 2023, I drove into Sedona’s crimson embrace and knew my search was over. Zillow revealed a raw parcel—1920 Red Rock Loop Rd—listed moments before I clicked. Standing on that land, I felt the earth pulse beneath my bare feet, murmuring: Build the space here.
So I did what any steady-handed dreamer does:
Sold my beloved Phoenix bungalow of twenty years.
Gave two months’ notice to the International Rescue Committee—a vocation that had taught me more than any degree.
Packed my tools, my faith, and a lifetime of practice—and moved north.
A Contractor, Architect, and Yogi Walk into a Dream…
There was no existing studio—only possibility. I drafted the plans, pulled the permits, dug foundation with my bare hands and shovel, and laid every conduit line for APS power with my own calloused hands. Through 100+ degree desert days and frosty dawn pours of concrete, I chanted, Sat Nam. Each nail, each weld, was a prayer that this space would someday hold your laughter, your tears, your transformations.
Intention Crystallized
TaKun Space is more than a building; it is an energetic vow:
If we hold our intentions with honor, trust Source, trust ourselves, and keep our hearts tuned to love, the quantum field of possibility will meet us.
I am living proof.
What's Next?
Walls are rising, alchemy is happening, incense is burning and the tea kettle is already warming. In the next post I’ll share the wild ride of financing, designing an off-grid yoga studio, and learning to submit inspections at 1 a.m. under a full moon. Until then, keep trusting your path—and know that the door to TaKun Space is already open in spirit.
With infinite gratitude and a bow of the heart,
Shana Bell Founder, Builder, Eternal Student
