Blog #3: Blessing the Land – Honoring Spirit Before the First Dig

Updated: Jul 9

Before a single trench was carved, before the foundation was poured, before TaKun Space began to take shape in the physical world—there was the land. And the land had to be honored.

This was not just construction. This was consecration.

A Sacred Gathering

On a quiet morning, I gathered with some of the most meaningful souls in my life:

• My beloved buddy Ankit, whose heart helped plant the first seeds of this vision.

Hai Chau, a Buddhist nun whose presence brings the stillness of deep reverence.

• My beautiful mother, a quiet anchor of strength and spirit.

• And my soulful pup Thay—whose name means master teacher in Vietnamese. He circled the gathering with quiet grace, a furry sage reminding us all to stay present, grounded, and in tune with the energy of the land.

Together, we walked the untouched earth of 1920 Red Rock Loop Rd. and offered prayers, incense, and blessings. The nun chanted and called upon the spirits of the land—those seen and unseen. We asked for permission. We asked for forgiveness. And we asked for support from the Earth to build not just a space, but a sanctuary for healing, for community, for awakening.

The wind stirred gently. The birds fell silent. And the land responded with stillness. It was time.

The First Dig

Shortly after the blessing, two more dear friends—Heidi and Jon—came up to join in what we called our First Dig Ceremony. It wasn’t just a symbolic gesture—it was the physical beginning of the vision. With shovels in hand and prayers in our hearts, we dug into the red soil together.

It felt like planting a seed.

Every handful of earth we turned carried the intention of healing, community, and connection. We laughed, we cried, and we gave thanks. There was no ribbon-cutting, no stage, no microphones. Just soul. Just truth. Just us.

Honoring the Earth

TaKun Space is being built not on the land, but with it. This day reminded me that we’re not here to conquer or claim—we’re here to co-create with the wisdom of the Earth.

This blessing and first dig set the tone for everything that would follow: grounded in respect, guided by spirit, and rooted in love.

Up Next

In Blog #4, I’ll take you behind the scenes as the first trenches were dug, conduit lines were laid, and foundation work began—yes, often by my own two hands. But it all started here, with reverence.

Thank you for witnessing this journey, step by step, blessing by blessing.

With love,
