Blog #2: Clearing the Way – Tiny Living, Big Dreams, and Sacred Ground

After choosing the land, the real work began—not just on the outside, but within. To manifest the TaKun Space, I had to let go of everything familiar. It was time to pack up the life I had known for over three decades in Phoenix and step fully into the unknown.

Leaving Comfort to Follow the Call

I boxed up memories from my little house in the Coronado Historic District—a space that had held my heart, my family, and years of healing work. I said goodbye to my beloved garden, my neighbors, and the rhythm of city life. It was bittersweet, but the calling to Sedona was louder than my longing for the past.

As I packed, I felt the shedding begin. This wasn’t just a move—it was a sacred offering. I was leaving behind comfort so that I could live more aligned with my purpose.

Building Shelter, Rooting the Dream

Before I could break ground on TaKun Space, I needed somewhere to live. With no home waiting for me, I did what I’ve always done—created it myself.

I designed and built a tiny home from scratch, a simple and soulful shelter that would hold me through the journey ahead. Every inch was intentional: compact, raw, and real. No fluff, just function and spirit.

It became my refuge—a place to rest between long work days and deep inner reckonings.

Clearing the Land, Honoring the Spirit

Once I arrived at 1920 Red Rock Loop Rd, the land spoke clearly: Respect me first.

So I began by listening. Walking barefoot across the soil, I offered sage smoke and prayers. Before any machinery touched the earth, I made offerings to the ancestors of this land, to the spirit of Sedona, and to the vision of what was to come.

Then came the clearing—manual, patient, intentional. I cut brush, hauled rocks, and slowly revealed the sacred canvas beneath. With every thorn removed, I could feel the energy beginning to rise.

This wasn’t just site prep—it was ceremony.

Trusting the Process

There were no blueprints for this part. Just trust. And a knowing:That when you listen to Spirit, humble yourself before the land, and move forward with love and grit… the Earth meets you in return.

Up Next

In Blog #3, I’ll share how I laid the literal foundation—electrical conduit, water lines, concrete pours—and how I navigated permits, delays, and divine timing.

This is what it looks like to build a healing space from the ground up—with bare hands, full heart, and unwavering faith.

Thank you for walking this journey with me.
